HOUSTON, TX – The 2025 Houston Rodeo proved to be a landmark event for East Texas, with two local cowboys rising to the top of the global rankings in their respective disciplines.

Kincade Henry, 23, of Mount Pleasant, delivered an impressive 8.1-second run in tie-down roping during the sixth round, securing a $30,000 prize and advancing to the finals. His final round time of 9.1 seconds earned him fourth place in the finals, ranking him #3 in the world for tie-down roping, according to the Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association (PRCA).

Holden Myers, 25, of Van, achieved a 5.2-second steer wrestling time in the sixth round, earning $30,000 and a spot in the finals. He went on to claim third place in the finals with a time of 4.5 seconds, securing the #2 world ranking in steer wrestling.

Other East Texas standouts also made waves:

  • Lighting Aguilera, 31, of Athens, topped the fifth round in team roping (headers) with a 4.9-second performance, earning $3,000. He finished sixth in the finals and currently holds the #6 global ranking.
  • Logan Cook, 27, of Alto, placed third in saddle bronc riding with a 77-point ride, earning $1,000. He is currently ranked #28 in the world.
  • Tilden Hooper, 37, of Carthage, scored 81.5 in bareback riding during the third round, securing $250. He now holds the #44 spot in the world standings.

The performances of these athletes not only highlight individual talent but also spotlight East Texas as a formidable force in the rodeo circuit.
