TYLER, TX – In a midnight misadventure that left both glass and dignity shattered, 23-year-old Jeremiah Megallon was arrested after attempting to rob Patterson Dodge, only to find himself trapped and bleeding—prompting him to call 911 on himself.

The unusual sequence of events unfolded around 3:45 a.m. on Thursday when Megallon broke into the dealership in a failed effort to steal a vehicle. According to Tyler Police Department Public Information Officer Andy Erbaugh, the suspect was injured while crawling through a broken window he had just smashed. The jagged glass left Megallon with cuts that required medical attention.

In a twist straight out of a slapstick crime show, Megallon realized he couldn’t escape the building after injuring himself—and decided to call 911, admitting to the break-in. Emergency responders treated him at a local hospital before he was transferred to the Smith County Jail.

Authorities charged Megallon with burglary of a building, adding insult to literal injury. It’s safe to say his getaway plan wasn’t exactly airtight—or even window-tight.

Officials remind the public that crime never pays, but in this case, it did call for help.
