HUNT COUNTY, TX — A robbery in progress prompted an urgent multi-agency response in Hunt County on Wednesday afternoon after a 911 dispatcher received a call from Reames Market, located off Highway 34. The call abruptly ended after someone in the background stated, “There were other options.”
At approximately 4:05 p.m., Hunt County Deputies arrived at the scene where they were involved in some kind of altercation with the suspect. The suspect, per scanner traffic assaulted the Deputy then fled in a white work van traveling along FM 1564 toward FM 2101.
By 4:13 p.m., deputies discovered the van abandoned on County Road 3507. A perimeter was quickly established, and a K-9 unit was dispatched to assist in tracking the suspect’s movements in the nearby area.
Additional reinforcements arrived as Sheriff Terry Jones and Texas DPS units joined the operation. At 4:30 p.m., DPS Helicopter 101 was requested and is expected to arrive with an ETA of approximately two hours.
Deputies later confirmed the white van used in the escape was reported stolen. By 5:10 p.m., tracking dogs from the Texas Department of Criminal Justice’s Cole Unit in Bonham were en route to assist in the manhunt.
This remains a fluid and developing situation. Authorities continue their search for the suspect, and residents in the area of CR 3507 and FM 1564 are urged to remain cautious and report any suspicious activity.
