A former teacher at Travis Intermediate School in Greenville has been indicted by a Hunt County Grand Jury following an investigation into reports of misconduct involving a special education student, according to a statement released by Greenville ISD on April 11, 2025.

The district outlined a timeline of events beginning on January 1, 2025, when a concerned parent contacted the school principal with concerns about a staff member’s interactions with their child. Further reports followed, including allegations of physical misconduct and visible bruising.

On January 23, the complaint was escalated to the Assistant Superintendent of Human Resources, prompting an immediate investigation and a report to Child Protective Services. That same day, the staff member in question was placed on administrative leave.

Video footage reviewed on January 24 confirmed inappropriate physical conduct by the employee on two separate occasions. Based on the evidence, the district found cause for termination. However, the employee chose to resign that afternoon in lieu of being formally terminated.

The matter was then referred to the State Board for Educator Certification and law enforcement for further action. The Greenville ISD Police Department submitted the case to the Hunt County District Attorney’s Office, resulting in a warrant issued for the former teacher’s arrest.

Greenville ISD emphasized that the safety and well-being of students is their highest priority and stated that swift and appropriate actions were taken in response to the allegations.

In accordance with privacy laws, the identities of the student and parent have not been disclosed.
