April 15, 2025 — Sulphur Springs, TX: A Richardson resident has been arrested for theft in Sulphur Springs after allegedly stealing merchandise from a Walmart store located on Broadway Street.
Authorities say Luis Contrerras Bautista, 29, was observed by Walmart staff and officers during a suspected shoplifting incident on Monday night around 7:55 PM.
According to the affidavit, Bautista passed all points of sale with merchandise valued at $106.57 without attempting to pay. Walmart loss prevention personnel contacted law enforcement, who responded and confirmed the theft through store surveillance and staff statements.
After further investigation, Bautista was taken into custody without incident by Sulphur Springs Police and transported to the Hopkins County Jail. He faces a misdemeanor charge of theft of property between $100 and $750.
