HOPKINS COUNTY, TX — On the evening of April 22, 2025, Jesus De La Riva Herrera, a 32-year-old man from Dallas, was arrested after a traffic stop along Highway 19 North resulted in the discovery of suspected methamphetamine.
Deputy G. Adams of the Hopkins County Sheriff’s Office clocked a vehicle traveling at 74 mph in a 65 mph zone. Upon pulling the driver over, Herrera reportedly gave inconsistent information regarding his travel plans and destination, prompting officers to request a search.
Due to Herrera’s refusal, K9 units were deployed. Deputy Lt. Steward and his K9 partner Zigi conducted a perimeter sniff, which led to an alert. A subsequent search of the vehicle revealed a small clear baggie inside the center console. The contents tested positive for methamphetamine and weighed approximately 1.17 grams with packaging.
Herrera was taken into custody, processed at the Hopkins County Jail, and charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance PG 1 >= 1G < 4G.
All individuals are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
