In the early hours of April 24, 2025, Hopkins County law enforcement conducted a traffic stop on Interstate 30 near mile marker 127, resulting in two arrests after a K9 alert led to the discovery of narcotics.

The suspects, identified as Jessica Lynn Doyle, 37, of Caddo Mills, and Christopher Joseph Jacobo, 49, of Saltillo, were stopped around 2:36 a.m. by officers from the Sulphur Springs Police Department. According to the arrest affidavit, both individuals were passengers in a white Mazda sedan that was pulled over for a traffic violation.

During the stop, officers noted visible signs of nervousness in the occupants and observed pinpoint pupils, prompting them to request consent for a vehicle search. The driver declined, but a K9 unit deployed to the scene alerted positively to the vehicle.

A subsequent probable cause search led to the discovery of multiple clear plastic baggies containing a crystal-like substance believed to be methamphetamine. Officers noted that the contraband was found within a backpack in the vehicle. A total of approximately 8.25 grams of the suspected narcotics were recovered.

Both Doyle and Jacobo denied ownership of the drugs. They were taken into custody and booked into the Hopkins County Jail without incident. Charges listed include felony possession of a controlled substance in Penalty Group 1 greater than 4 grams but less than 200 grams.
