Debra Ann Russell-Ellis, a 60-year-old woman from Sulphur Springs, was arrested on a charge of credit or debit card abuse following an investigation conducted by the Sulphur Springs Police Department.
According to the affidavit, officers were working on a case involving a stolen credit card and called Russell-Ellis into the Sulphur Springs Police Department for questioning. She was read her Miranda rights and voluntarily agreed to speak with investigators.
During the interview, Russell-Ellis allegedly admitted to using the victim’s credit card to withdraw funds and make purchases at a local casino. Following her admission, she was placed in double-locked handcuffs and transported to the Hopkins County Jail without incident.
The charge, classified as a felony under Texas Penal Code, has been filed under “Credit Card or Debit Card Abuse – SJF” by the Sulphur Springs Police Department. The investigation remains ongoing as law enforcement continues to determine the full scope of the offense.
