Commerce Police Arrest Man After Stabbing Incident Near Culver Street

Commerce, Texas – On April 29, 2025, at approximately 1:00 p.m., officers with the Commerce Police Department were dispatched to the 700 block of Culver Street in response to reports of an altercation. University Police officers also responded as communications operators gathered additional information from witnesses.

Witnesses reported that a man involved in the altercation had fled the area and that a firearm may have been present. Officers located the suspect near the intersection of Culver and Mangum Street. Simultaneously, authorities found the victim suffering from multiple stab wounds, requiring immediate medical attention.

Hunt County EMS and Commerce Fire arrived to treat the victim. Officers from the Commerce Police Department and its Criminal Investigations Division began processing the scene and recovered several weapons and other evidence connected to the incident.

The suspect, identified as Christopher Williams, was taken into custody and booked on charges of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. The investigation is ongoing.
