BEAUMONT, TX — A 31-year-old woman from Greenville, Texas is facing serious drug charges after a traffic stop led to a major cocaine seizure Friday evening in Southeast Texas.

According to the Beaumont Police Department, officers with the Narcotics Interdiction Unit pulled over a blue Jeep Cherokee traveling eastbound on Interstate 10 around 6:00 p.m. on May 9, 2025. The driver was identified as Estephania Abrego-Hernandez.

Detectives developed probable cause during the stop, leading to a consensual vehicle search. Authorities discovered approximately four kilograms of what they believe to be cocaine, along with a significant amount of cash, all hidden within the vehicle.

Abrego-Hernandez was immediately taken into custody and transported to the Jefferson County Jail. She has been charged with possession of a controlled substance. No bond information has been released at this time.

Beaumont PD has confirmed that the case remains under active investigation. Federal authorities may become involved depending on the scale and connections related to the seized narcotics.

This marks yet another significant drug interdiction effort by Beaumont’s specialized narcotics unit along the busy I-10 corridor—a known hotspot for interstate trafficking activity.

All individuals are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
