Ohio Man Arrested in Hopkins County After Traffic Stop and False ID Claims

HOPKINS COUNTY, TX — A 49-year-old man from Holland, Ohio, was arrested on multiple charges following a traffic stop conducted by Sulphur Springs Police on May 21, 2025.

The suspect, identified as Damian S. Nowowiesjski, was pulled over around 10:00 a.m. on Industrial Drive East at Bill Bradford Road for allegedly driving a vehicle with expired registration. According to the affidavit, Nowowiesjski admitted he had neither a driver’s license nor insurance on the vehicle.

When officers requested identification, Nowowiesjski reportedly refused to provide his full name and date of birth, claiming he was a “dead man’s identity.” Officers contacted the passenger in the vehicle, who provided his real name and date of birth, confirming the driver’s actual identity.

Due to his refusal to cooperate during the stop, Nowowiesjski was taken into custody and transported to Hopkins County Jail without incident. He was charged with:

  • Expired Registration (MC)
  • Failure to Maintain Financial Responsibility (MC)
  • Fail to Identify Giving False/Fictitious Info (MB)

The vehicle, a gray 2007 Nissan Pathfinder, was impounded by Fuller’s Towing.

Hunt County Theft Reports will continue to follow this case for any future developments.
