Traffic Stop Leads to Meth Possession Arrest in Sulphur Springs Arrest Report Header

SULPHUR SPRINGS, TX — A local man is facing a felony drug charge following a traffic stop by Sulphur Springs Police on May 24, 2025.

The suspect, identified as Harley Wayne Hansard, age 23, was pulled over around 11:46 A.M. near 500 Texas Street. Officers conducted a search of the vehicle after obtaining consent from Hansard.

According to the arrest affidavit, officers discovered a straw containing methamphetamine residue in Hansard’s front pocket. A further search revealed a plastic bag containing a suspected methamphetamine substance hidden in the band of Hansard’s Popeye’s uniform hat. The total weight of the seized narcotics was approximately 0.40 grams.

Hansard was taken into custody without incident and transported to the Hopkins County Jail. He was booked on the following charge:

  • Possession of Controlled Substance PG 1 < 1G (SJF)

Authorities confirmed that no additional contraband was located in the vehicle. The investigation remains ongoing.
