HUNT COUNTY, TX – A Mesquite man is facing a serious felony charge following a deadly crash that unfolded early Sunday morning on State Highway 276 near FM 1565 in Hunt County.

According to the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS), Jecobii Moore has been arrested and charged with Intoxication Manslaughter With a Vehicle under Texas Penal Code 49.08. The charge stems from a high-impact two-vehicle collision that resulted in at least one fatality. Moore is currently being held in the Hunt County Detention Center without bond pending arraignment.

Scanner traffic from emergency responders detailed the chaotic scene. At approximately 6:19 a.m., Hunt County EMS, Union Valley Fire Department, and Royse City Rescue were dispatched to the intersection of Highway 276 and FM 1565 following reports of a major vehicle accident with one vehicle on fire.

Law enforcement from the Hunt County Sheriff’s Office and DPS were also en route at that time. Upon arrival around 6:21 a.m., units confirmed the severity of the scene: two vehicles were involved, with one resting in the roadway heavily damaged and the other fully engulfed in flames in a nearby ditch.

Due to the seriousness of the injuries and fire conditions, Air Evac was placed on standby with an estimated 18-minute flight time. Additional support arrived as the incident unfolded, including a supervisor (AMR 535) and a second MICU (Mobile Intensive Care Unit) requested by 6:43 a.m.

The identity of the deceased victim has not yet been released pending family notification.

DPS Troopers on scene initiated an investigation which led to the arrest of Moore. Authorities have not released specific details about Moore’s blood alcohol level or speed at the time of the crash, but stated that evidence supported the intoxication manslaughter charge.
