HOPKINS COUNTY, TX – A 35-year-old man from Atlanta, Texas was arrested Tuesday afternoon after Sulphur Springs Police conducted a traffic stop that led to the discovery of methamphetamine and drug-related paraphernalia.
Cyle Ray Jones was stopped on June 10, 2025, around 2:30 p.m. in the 400 block of Gilmer Street in Sulphur Springs. Officers noted the vehicle’s registration sticker appeared altered and the window tint did not seem to comply with state regulations. Jones reportedly told officers he had received a prior citation regarding the tint, but his behavior raised suspicion.
Police described Jones as visibly nervous, with shaking hands, elevated breathing, and stuttering speech. Based on these signs, officers requested and received consent to search the vehicle.
During the search, officers found a bottle cap containing a crystal-like substance believed to be methamphetamine. A field test returned a presumptive positive. They also discovered two synthetic urine kits, believed to be intended for falsifying a drug test.
Jones was arrested by Sulphur Springs Police and transported to the Hopkins County Jail on the following charges:
- Possession of Controlled Substance PG1 <1g
- Falsification of Drug Test
The suspected methamphetamine has been submitted to the lab for analysis. As of this writing, bond information has not been released.
