HOPKINS COUNTY, TX – Deputies with the Hopkins County Sheriff’s Office arrested a 42-year-old Como man in the early morning hours of June 14, 2025, after receiving a call about a suspicious vehicle partially parked in the roadway near County Road 2437.
Ivan Galvan-Moncada was found slumped behind the wheel of a black Chevrolet Silverado, which was reported by a concerned caller. The witness advised the vehicle was slowly rolling toward a fence and feared a crash was imminent.
Upon arrival, deputies observed Moncada in the driver’s seat with at least two open beer containers nearby. According to the arrest report, Moncada showed clear signs of intoxication, including slurred speech, red glossy eyes, and the odor of alcohol on his breath. He was also reportedly unsteady on his feet when asked to exit the vehicle.
Moncada was taken into custody and transported to the Hopkins County Jail, where he was booked on a charge of Public Intoxication. A family member who lived nearby took possession of the vehicle at the scene.
No bond was listed at the time of booking. The case remains under the jurisdiction of the Hopkins County Sheriff’s Office.
