SULPHUR SPRINGS, TX – A bizarre welfare call turned into a multi-charge arrest early Saturday morning when officers with the Sulphur Springs Police Department responded to a report of a partially clothed man acting erratically in a residential area.
Henry Lee Woods Jr., 39, was arrested around 1:25 a.m. on June 14, 2025, in the 600 block of Bill Bradford Road. According to the affidavit, a caller advised dispatch of a man who was barefoot, wearing only boxers, and talking loudly about religious topics while walking around outside.
Upon arrival, officers found Woods on the property wearing nothing but boxers. He was observed sweating profusely, mumbling unintelligibly, and displaying signs of intoxication including erratic behavior and resistance to questioning. When officers asked if he had used illicit substances or alcohol, Woods failed to respond clearly and continued making disoriented statements.
Officers attempted to detain him, but Woods resisted and went limp, complicating efforts to place him in handcuffs. After being secured, he continued to resist and hinder officers while being placed in the patrol unit. He was ultimately transported to the Hopkins County Jail and booked on multiple charges, including:
- Public Intoxication (MC)
- Resisting Arrest (MA)
- Search/Transport Obstruction (MA)
No bond information was available at the time of this report. Woods was later released to jail staff after processing. The incident is under further review by authorities.
