HOPKINS COUNTY, TX — A Dallas man was arrested over the weekend after allegedly brandishing a firearm during a road rage confrontation on Interstate 30 in Hopkins County.
According to the Hopkins County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to a report of a disturbance involving a firearm on Saturday, June 15, 2025. The suspect, identified as 41-year-old Jared Ray of Dallas, was involved in a road rage altercation in which he allegedly displayed a handgun toward occupants of another vehicle on the South Service Road near League Street.
Deputies located Ray and detained him in handcuffs. During questioning, Ray admitted to showing the victims the firearm, which he stated he retrieved from the glove compartment after being cut off in traffic. Ray also claimed the other vehicle was following him, prompting his actions.
With consent, deputies recovered the handgun from Ray’s vehicle. After verifying the statements from both parties involved and confirming Ray’s admission, he was placed under arrest for two counts of Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon.
Jared Cole Ray was transported to the Hopkins County Jail where he was booked and held pending further proceedings. No injuries were reported during the incident.
