SULPHUR SPRINGS, TX — A 57-year-old man was arrested on the evening of June 15, 2025, after law enforcement responded to reports of a disorderly subject outside the Pilot Travel Center located at 1200 Hillcrest Drive South.

Officers with the Sulphur Springs Police Department arrived around 8:49 PM following a call about a man yelling at individuals outside the business. Upon arrival, officers observed the suspect, later identified as Chancey Martin Jr., sitting on a bench near the building with an open container of Budweiser beer.

Authorities noted that Martin exhibited signs of intoxication, including slurred speech, unsteady balance, bloodshot eyes, and the strong odor of alcohol on his breath. Officers determined he posed a danger to himself and others in his current state.

After issuing a criminal trespass warning, officers arrested Martin for Public Intoxication (M/C). He was placed in double-locked handcuffs and transported to the Hopkins County Jail, where he was booked without further incident.
