HOPKINS COUNTY, TX – A parole compliance check in Hopkins County has led to the arrest of 51-year-old Tony Harvey of Saltillo, Texas, after deputies uncovered multiple firearms and a small amount of methamphetamine in his possession. One of the firearms recovered was later confirmed stolen.
According to an affidavit from the Hopkins County Sheriff’s Office, deputies were assisting a parole officer with a routine visit to Harvey’s residence on June 19, 2025. During the inspection, Harvey was detained while deputies conducted a consented search of the home.
Inside a bedroom of the home, officers located five rifles. Harvey, a convicted felon, is prohibited from possessing firearms. Deputies secured the weapons and ran the serial numbers for verification. One of the firearms was confirmed to have been reported stolen. Harvey was taken into custody and transported to the Hopkins County Jail.
A subsequent search warrant led to the discovery of suspected methamphetamine weighing less than one gram. Field tests confirmed the substance was meth. No additional contraband was found.
Harvey is facing the following charges:
- Unlawful Possession of a Firearm by a Felon (F3)
- Theft of a Firearm (SJF)
- Possession of PG 1 < 1G (SJF)
He remains in custody at the Hopkins County Jail as of June 25, 2025.
