DWI Arrest Larry Brandenburgh

HOPKINS COUNTY, TX – A routine traffic stop in Hopkins County led to the arrest of a Winnsboro man on a felony DWI charge, according to a report from the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS).

On July 12, 2025, at approximately 11:19 a.m., DPS Trooper F. Ortiz Escamilla conducted a traffic stop on a Chevrolet Silverado on FM 69 near CR 2314. The driver, identified as Larry Daniel Brandenburgh, 55, showed signs of intoxication despite initially denying alcohol consumption. During a search of his vehicle, troopers located a half-empty 1.75-liter bottle of vodka.

Brandenburgh consented to standardized field sobriety tests, and based on his performance and visible signs of impairment, troopers determined he had lost his mental and physical faculties due to alcohol consumption. Brandenburgh refused to provide a breath specimen, prompting officers to obtain a blood search warrant. A blood specimen was collected at a hospital before he was transported to the Hopkins County Jail.

Authorities confirmed Brandenburgh had two prior convictions for DWI 3rd or more. He now faces a new charge of DWI 3rd or More (Felony). He was booked into the Hopkins County Jail following the arrest.

This case remains under investigation by the Texas Department of Public Safety.
