Hopkins County Arrest: Sulphur Springs Man Facing Multiple Drug Charges

Sulphur Springs, TX – Sulphur Springs officers arrested 27-year-old Jacob Pothoff on July 14, 2025, following a drug investigation at a local gas station. Authorities say Potoff was taken into custody after officers found methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia inside his vehicle.

According to the arrest affidavit, officers were dispatched to a gas station after receiving reports of suspicious activity involving drugs. A K-9 unit was called to the scene and detected narcotics. A subsequent search revealed syringes with methamphetamine residue and a clear plastic bag containing suspected methamphetamine hidden in Pothoff’s boot during booking procedures.

Pothoff now faces multiple charges, including possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of a controlled substance (1-4 grams), and prohibited substances in a correctional facility. Officers noted that the charges were enhanced due to the location being in a Drug-Free Zone (DFZ).
