Methamphetamine Seized in Van Zandt County Traffic Stop, Suspect Arrested

VAN ZANDT COUNTY, TX — On Monday, July 28th, 2025, the Van Zandt County Criminal Interdiction Team conducted a routine traffic stop near FM 47 and County Road 2703 that led to a significant drug arrest.


The driver and sole occupant of the vehicle, identified as Nelson Busby, was found to be in possession of a crystal-like substance believed to be methamphetamine. A consent search of the vehicle was conducted, during which law enforcement officers also discovered a glass pipe commonly used for smoking narcotics.


Busby was taken into custody at the scene without incident and transported to the Van Zandt County Jail. He was booked on one felony charge of Possession of a Controlled Substance Penalty Group 1/1-B (POSS CS PG 1/1-B) ≥4G < 200G.


The Van Zandt County Criminal Interdiction Team continues to actively combat drug trafficking throughout the area, and this arrest represents another successful effort in keeping dangerous substances off local roads and out of the community.
