SULPHUR SPRINGS, TX — On the evening of August 3, 2025, 18-year-old Hector Virgilio Espino was arrested by Hopkins County deputies following a traffic stop connected to a suspected kidnapping call near Sulphur Springs.
According to the affidavit, dispatch received a report of a possible kidnapping involving a white Buick sedan. Law enforcement responded quickly, located a vehicle matching the description, and conducted a traffic stop at the intersection of City Limit Sign and Highway 11 East.
Espino was identified as one of the vehicle’s occupants. While the reported victim did not wish to press charges, deputies noted the strong odor of marijuana and conducted a probable cause search. A glass bong, marijuana residue, and vape pens were discovered. Additionally, marijuana was reportedly located in the front left pocket of Espino’s shorts.
Two juvenile passengers were also present and later released to their parents. Espino was arrested and transported to the Hopkins County Jail on the following charge:
