Raul Garcia‑Vasquez Arrested in Hopkins County; Five Counts of Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon Hopkins County Arrest News

HOPKINS COUNTY, TX — On August 8, 2025, Hopkins County Sheriff’s Office deputies arrested Raul Edgardo Garcia‑Vasquez, age 21, following a disturbance reported near the 150 block of FM 2948.


According to the affidavit, deputies were dispatched on a report of a stranger knocking on a residence and trying doors. On arrival, deputies contacted a male who appeared to be hiding next to the home and identified him as Garcia‑Vasquez. A rifle and a revolver‑style pellet gun were found where he had been lying, investigators stated.


Through interviews, deputies learned Garcia‑Vasquez had previously been in a dating relationship with a woman inside the residence and allegedly arrived uninvited. The victim told deputies Garcia‑Vasquez pointed a rifle toward the residence while she was on the phone with 911 and attempted to get inside by trying the doors. Deputies noted a total of two adults and four juveniles were inside the home during the incident. The victim chose to file charges.


Garcia‑Vasquez was detained without further incident and transported to the Hopkins County Jail. Deputies reported his vehicle, a white 2007 Acura SUV, was found in a pasture south of the residence, was inoperable, and was impounded.
