HOPKINS COUNTY, TX — On August 9, 2025, the Sulphur Springs Police Department arrested Jeffrey Todd Bell, age 39, following a traffic stop on Interstate 30 eastbound near the 127 mile marker. The stop was initiated around 7:45 a.m. for failure to maintain a single lane, and the arrest time was logged at approximately 8:32 a.m.


According to the affidavit, an SSPD officer conducted a roadside investigation and requested a K‑9 team. Delta County Sheriff’s Office responded with a K-9. After a free‑air sniff around the vehicle, officers performed a probable‑cause search and located a fanny pack containing a clear plastic baggie with suspected methamphetamine, a multi‑colored rubber container with additional suspected methamphetamine, and multiple items of drug paraphernalia. The suspected methamphetamine weighed about 1.79 grams (including packaging), the report states.


Dispatch also confirmed Bell had active warrants out of Polk County, Arkansas. He was taken into custody, placed in double‑locked handcuffs, and transported to the Hopkins County Jail. The vehicle, a maroon 2012 Mazda CX‑9, was impounded by a local wrecker service.
