DELTA COUNTY, TX — On Friday, August 15, 2025, at about 12:40 p.m., a Delta County Sheriff’s Office sergeant conducted a traffic stop on Hwy 24 South near CR 2045 after observing a black sedan displaying expired registration, according to the arrest report.
The sergeant reported that a computer check indicated the vehicle’s registration had expired in January 2025. During the stop, the driver was identified as Carolyn Theresa Pease, age 61. When asked about a windshield sticker that displayed a later date, Pease allegedly admitted she had altered the month on the sticker to make it appear valid while visiting from out of state.
Pease was placed under arrest and transported to the Delta County Sheriff’s Office for processing, then released to Hopkins County Jail staff without incident. The vehicle, a black Buick Verano sedan, was impounded by a local wrecker service.
