HOPKINS COUNTY, TX — On August 14, 2025, Hopkins County Sheriff’s Office deputies arrested Larry Tyrone Goodson, age 54, following a family‑violence investigation in the rural area near CR 2403.


According to the arrest affidavit, deputies were dispatched just after 11:12 a.m. regarding an assault. The victim told deputies her boyfriend, Goodson, assaulted her by striking her multiple times, placing his hand around her neck and restricting her breathing, and threatening to kill her with a knife. She also stated he held a pellet gun to her face while she attempted to sleep.


Deputies reported observing visible injuries, including bruising to the victim’s face and arms. Goodson was detained and placed in a patrol unit. After a warrant was granted, deputies searched the residence and located a firearm in the bedroom that was in plain view and accessible. Goodson later told deputies the pair had been “wrestling” and that he struck the victim on the chin, according to the affidavit.


Goodson was transported to the Hopkins County Jail and booked on multiple charges. Bond amounts listed at booking included $150,000 on two of the counts.

Goodson was booked at approximately 1:36 p.m. The case remains under investigation.
