SSPD: Stolen Handgun Recovered During Traffic Stop on Eaton Drive; Driver Arrested Sulphur Springs Traffic Stop — Stolen Gun Recovered

SULPHUR SPRINGS, TX — A Sulphur Springs Police Department traffic stop on August 16, 2025, around 3:45 p.m. led officers to recover a stolen Sig Sauer 9mm handgun and suspected marijuana near the 1300 block of Eaton Drive, according to the arrest affidavit.


Officers initiated the stop after a registration check showed the vehicle expired. Upon contact with the driver, officers reported detecting an odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle. A probable‑cause search followed, during which a green leafy substance believed to be marijuana and a Sig Sauer pistol were found. Communications confirmed the pistol was stolen.


The driver was identified as Cassie Gail Norris, age 44. Norris was placed in double‑locked handcuffs and transported to the Hopkins County Jail for booking.

  • Theft of Firearm — State Jail Felony

Arresting personnel listed include Sgt. Mayes with assisting officer Ofc. Acosta. Bond information was not included in the initial report.
