
Hopkins County, TX – On August 26, 2025, at approximately 1:50 a.m., deputies with the Hopkins County Sheriff’s Office conducted a traffic stop that led to the arrest of Juan Carlos Luna-Almendariz, 49, on serious DWI-related charges.
According to the official arrest affidavit, deputies observed signs of alcohol use including a strong odor of alcohol and a spilled liquid on the vehicle’s center console. Standardized Field Sobriety Tests (SFSTs) were administered, and Luna-Almendariz partially refused participation. He was then transported to the Hopkins County Jail.
Subsequent breath analysis revealed a Blood Alcohol Concentration (BAC) of 0.260, significantly exceeding the legal limit. He was booked on the following charge:
- DWI with open container BAC >= 0.15 (MA)
The arresting deputy, Moore, filed the report and initiated the booking. Luna-Almendariz was held pending bond and further legal proceedings.
