Hopkins County, TX – On Friday, August 29, 2025, officers with the Sulphur Springs Police Department (SSPD) responded to a late-night disturbance on North Davis Street involving two individuals reportedly yelling at each other near a local club.
According to the official affidavit, the caller advised dispatch that one of the individuals had left the scene following an altercation. Officers later located the suspect, identified as Gregory Wayne Lee Jr., age 36, who showed visible signs of intoxication and admitted he had “a lot to drink” and was trying to find a ride back to Leesburg.
Authorities determined that Lee was intoxicated in a public place to the extent that he posed a danger to himself or others. He was placed under arrest for public intoxication, searched, handcuffed, and transported to the Hopkins County Jail without incident.
Officer Glenn filed the arrest, and Officer Davis assisted on the scene. The incident occurred just before 12:30 a.m. and was resolved without further complications.
This event adds to the ongoing vigilance of local law enforcement in managing public safety during nightlife hours in Sulphur Springs.
