Hopkins County, TX – On Thursday, September 4, 2025, law enforcement arrested Andrew Benjamin Rodríguez, age 18, following a call regarding suspicious activity on FM 69 South in Como, Texas.
According to the arrest affidavit, Hopkins County deputies responded to a report of a person acting suspiciously on private property. Before deputies arrived, the suspect had already left the scene but was observed nearby by an off-duty SSPD detective, who detained him until on-duty units arrived.
Upon arrival, deputies noted the suspect’s behavior as erratic and consistent with narcotic use, including visible signs of possible hallucinations. Deputies obtained permission to search the vehicle associated with the suspect and recovered a syringe suspected to have been used for narcotic injection.
It was determined that Rodríguez was intoxicated to the point of posing a danger to himself or others. He was transported to the Hopkins County Jail and booked on charges of Public Intoxication.
No further incidents were reported during or after the arrest. The case highlights law enforcement’s ongoing response to drug-related safety concerns in Hopkins County.
