Hopkins County, TX — A 27-year-old man from Yantis, Texas was arrested late Sunday night after police discovered him unresponsive behind the wheel of a parked pickup truck.
According to the official arrest report filed by the Sulphur Springs Police Department (SSPD), officers made contact with Cason Ryan Parks on October 26, 2025, at approximately 11:16 p.m. in the 300 block of Jarbo Street. Parks was reportedly slumped over in the driver’s seat of a Dodge Ram 3500 and had to be awakened by tapping on the truck’s front windows.
Upon waking, Parks exhibited signs of intoxication including bloodshot eyes and a strong smell of alcohol. Officers on scene noted he was disoriented and unaware of his surroundings. A standard horizontal gaze nystagmus (HGN) test was administered, which Parks reportedly failed with six out of six clues. He was taken into custody and booked into the Hopkins County Jail on the charge of Public Intoxication (Class C Misdemeanor).
According to the affidavit of probable cause, no injuries or additional charges were reported, Parks was transported and booked without incident.
As of this report, Parks remains in custody pending further judicial review.
