Delta County & Hunt County, Texas — A Friday morning traffic stop attempt turned into a multi-agency pursuit that stretched from Highway 24 to Interstate 30 and ended in Greenville with one arrest, according to the Delta County Sheriff’s Office.
On Friday, November 28, 2025, at approximately 7:02 a.m., deputies attempted to stop a blue Honda Odyssey traveling southbound on Highway 24 near FM 2949 for allegedly driving 85 mph in a 75. Deputies were in the median with emergency lights activated when the Honda passed; when units pulled out to stop the vehicle, the driver allegedly refused to stop, initiating a pursuit.
The pursuit continued toward the Delta–Hunt County line, where a Commerce Police Department unit joined. Investigators say speeds exceeded 100 mph with reckless driving reported. As the chase moved through Commerce, an officer deployed spike strips near Culver Street, disabling the front passenger-side tire.
Despite the damaged tire, the driver entered Interstate 30, allegedly driving on the shoulder and in a reckless manner. Greenville Police then deployed a second set of spike strips. The vehicle continued westbound on I-30 until it crashed near Exit 93 in Greenville.
The driver, identified as Emerito Rolon Marquez of Florida, ran from the scene but was quickly apprehended and taken into custody. Authorities note that additional charges are expected as the investigation continues.
