Two Years Later: Hunt County Still Searching for Missing Man Michael Chambers

Hunt County, Texas — It has been two years since Michael Chambers was last seen, and the Hunt County Sheriff’s Office says the investigation into his disappearance remains open.

On March 10, 2017, the Hunt County Sheriff’s Office launched an investigation into the disappearance of Michael Chambers after his wife, Becca Chambers, arrived home to find the house empty and reported him missing.

In the days that followed, authorities and community members mounted an intensive search effort around the Chambers residence. More than 100 volunteers assisted in the operation, which included cadaver dogs, drones, and trained search teams on foot. Despite the large-scale effort, no trace of Chambers was found.

Over the next months and years, the case drew attention from local, state, and national media outlets. That coverage generated numerous tips and leads, all of which investigators followed up on. According to the Sheriff’s Office, none of those tips produced evidence that advanced the case.

Investigators say that in the past year, no new tips have come in through the Sheriff’s Office tip line. While the case remains active, authorities acknowledge that solid leads have been difficult to come by.

The Hunt County Sheriff’s Office continues to ask anyone who may have information about Michael Chambers’ disappearance—no matter how small it may seem—to contact investigators or Crime Stoppers.
