Hunt County EMS, Union Valley Fire & Cash Rescue units responded to a major motor vehicle accident Tuesday morning on FM 1565 near the Kaufman/Hunt County line.
Once units made the scene they located a rolled over 18 wheeler that was hauling a tanker trailer carrying fuel. Greenville Fire units were called to the scene to assist with extrication. DPS released the statement below in regards to this accident.
At approximately 10:55 a.m. Highway Patrol Troopers were dispatched to a major crash involving an 18-Wheeler at F.M. 1565 just northwest of the city of Poetry.
Preliminary investigation indicates that a 2015 Freightliner Tanker truck was traveling at an unsafe speed and lost control into the curve overturning into the roadway.
The driver was transported to the Medical City of Plano with non-life-threatening injuries.
Several gallons of oil and gas was lost in the crash and the roadway will be shut down as the hazmat teams conducts clean up.
The investigation is ongoing and no further information is available at this time.
