Fake Drivers License Lands Sulphur Springs Man Behind Bars

Saturday just after 11:00PM, Officer Green with the Sulphur Springs Police Department made a traffic stop on a Audi in the 800 block of Gilmer Street.

Upon making contact with the driver, the officer observed a open container sitting in the cupholder of the vehicle, the sole occupant of the vehicle admitted to drinking a little alcohol. Officer Green performed Horizontal Gaze Nystagmus (HGN) with the subject showing no signs of intoxication.

Officer Green ran the drivers name, learning he had no drivers license. After a quick search of the vehicle, the officer located a Texas Driver License laying in the passenger side floorboard of the vehicle, containing all of the drivers personal information. Upon running the DL Number through Sulphur Springs dispatch, it was confirmed this was in fact a fake DL.

Silva Elias Arias of Sulphur Springs was placed into custody and charged with the following:

-NO DRIVER LICENSE

Silva has since been released from the Hopkins County Detention Center.
