On December 4th, 2019 at approximately 10:00 a.m. a Deputy with the Hunt County Sheriff’s Office was made aware that the Department of Public Safety was attempting to catch up to a vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed eastbound on Interstate 30.
The suspect vehicle passed the Deputy at a high rate of speed and a pursuit was initiated which continued eastbound on Interstate 30 with the suspect passing other motorists on the shoulder of the road. The pursuit reached speeds in excess of 115 mph until the suspect exited SH 50 proceeding southbound in the northbound lanes. The suspect attempted to turn on to FM 2736 where he failed to navigate the turn and crashed in the ditch disabling the vehicle. The suspect then fled on foot and was pursued by the Deputy along with assistance from the Greenville Police Department. As the foot pursuit continued across a pasture a local homeowner exited his tractor and prevented the suspect from crossing a fence. The suspect was apprehended moments later without further incident. The suspect was evaluated at the scene by AMR and released at which time he was transported to the Hunt County Detention Center.

The suspect was identified as Troyce Landon Jr. a 21 year old male from Glen Heights Texas. Mr. Landon was booked in on charges of Evading Arrest/Detention with a vehicle and Evading Arrest and bond has been set at $14,000.00 for both charges.
Sheriff Meeks stated: “This suspect showed a complete lack of regard for the safety of anyone on the road and this could have gone very different. I am thankful that no one was injured. I would like to thank the Greenville Police Department as well as the homeowner who assisted in the apprehension of the suspect”.
